Hi, and welcome back to it's not rocket science five questions over coffee. I have here my favourite mug which has a bear on it, which I really, really enjoy taking my coffee from. I'm looking forward to a really interesting discussion today with Simon Severino. Simon, I think we I didn't think we shared so much. I'm so looking forward to this conversation because it's exactly the same ethos, which is to bring templates to people, to enable them to scale their business so that they can free themselves and move on without having to spend so much of their time managing their business. So I'm really looking forward to this conversation, Simon, welcome to It's not rocket science, five questions over coffee.
Simon Severino 01:07
Here's to pay everybody excited to be here.
Stuart Webb 01:09
Terrific. So let's start with who is your ideal client? What is it? You're trying to help them do? What is the sort of the target person that you reach?
Simon Severino 01:20
We coach agencies, consultancies and big solopreneurs, who are doing around 35 to 100,000 per month, and want to double that in 90 days. So they're doing around 35 to 100,000 per month right now, they want to double it in 90 days and have more fun, while scaling the business.
Stuart Webb 01:45
Hey, we all want to have more fun while we're scaling our businesses, Simon, I think that's a really brilliant target to be talking to people, there are so many people out there who are in that space that really want to do so what is it that you find that they've tried before you meet them, and you work with them?
Simon Severino 02:01
They did multiple things. They found some cool cultures to work on purpose and mindset, which clarified their goals and what they stand for. But they didn't get the bridge to the day to day, okay, how do we live the purpose and get the purpose across every day. And then on the other side, they were then still looking for coaches and courses and methods, they find tactical stuff. And they did the tactical stuff, which sometimes was working, but mostly was not exactly for their customised for their context. So again, there was a link missing. So yes, this kind of LinkedIn tactic works. But what exactly was the problem that I wanted to solve in the first place? And so they went back into that, so they tried stuff on on the purpose and mindset area, they tried some tactics. But what's not coming together right now for them is a simple operating system, daily, weekly, monthly habit, simple blueprints that really solve their problems. And the one to one coach to actually talk about the implementation and the obstacles and what pops up every week.
Stuart Webb 03:19
Yeah, simple, simple tools like that work brilliantly, don't they? Do you want to? You want to give us an example a sort of, you know, case study somebody, you've helped somebody you'd like to just highlight and talk us through what it is you did with them?
Simon Severino 03:32
Sure. So agency owners. We have a Dawson's right now being coached right now, in our 90 days programme. The 90 days one to one coaching programme is called the strategy sprint. So in week zero, we create the game plan with them the next 90 days, what are the 12 things that we will solve in in Sprint's of seven days each? And with that game plan? This agency, for example, then it's a European marketing agency. And they are doing right now, week one. So the personal vision and the business vision so the founders are really writing down in five pages. Where will the business be in three years? How does it look like feel like and they create also an audio affirmation that they will listen to every morning? So that excites them? They are now sharing it with the whole team? Do you agree, do you do you add anything and then when they've shared it, this now becomes something that they use every day. They are pulling parts out of that and using that for the job description because they are hiring. They're using other parts to simplify the number of activities that we'll do. So in week two, they sit together and say okay, based on this, what are the few big activities that we are going to run to accomplish our three years vision broken down into one year's activities broken down into This quarters main activities, and then the core metrics and who does what? Very simple everything on one page. And so in week two, they have now the energy because it's linked to their purpose to what they are here to build and why they love it. Week two, it's super simplified. It's just three goals for three months. Everybody knows how those activities build upon each other. So it makes sense. And it doesn't feel like overwhelm and doing too much it feels like cool, we're building these three things, they will move these three metrics forward, we have a weekly dashboard showing us the progress all right, cool.
Stuart Webb 05:42
Brilliant, I absolutely love it. I absolutely love it, is I gotta just put a scroll across the bottom of the screen, which is that that website you talked about which is strategy Sprint's dot com? Is there a piece of advice or a free resource on that website, which you can get to the audience to really start to help them to understand how to start taking this journey themselves.
Simon Severino 06:03
Yes, so 25 of our Blueprints in total, we have 274 Plug and Play blueprints ready for our clients in the sprint university. But 25 of those which are the most used, we have for free on our website, it's strategy Sprint's dot com slash tools, and people can download them for free, it's open source, and the more people use them, the better they become. And the more relaxed business owners, we have there. And that's better for society because they come back, more enjoyable to dinner, they listen more, they're more fun to be around. That's why we share those things.
Stuart Webb 06:42
Oh, that's a lovely idea, I do something very similar. I believe I know, you believe that the way we can help businesses grow is to show them how we do stuff, they get more value out of us showing them how to do stuff than telling about it. So I've absolutely agree with you, if you can, if you can download these things, you can see how it's done. You may or may not need Simon but you know, you will definitely remember Simon is the guy that set you on the straight and narrow towards your business growth and to releasing the time that you need in order to think more about what it is you're doing with your with your business. So Simon, thank you very much for that. That's going to be in the show notes. And we will get people to come along to that and start downloading some of those brilliant tools. Simon, is there a particular book or programme that really set you on the path to understanding some of this stuff for yourself?
Simon Severino 07:35
Yes, I have used the last three years of pandemic to write down exactly what I do, how I do marketing, how do I do sales, how I scale the business from being a solopreneur, to being a global business that runs even without me. And I have written in form of a book, the strategist prints book, which is now out on Amazon. And that has been definitely the most formative book for me because writing it took me around two years, developing the tools that are in the book took me 21 years in the field. But then, you know, selecting the right ones that are really applicable to all businesses across the globe, from Los Angeles to Singapore, and then curating them, simplifying them, making them more enjoyable and more easy to use. That has that took me two years of very intense work. And that has transformed me and the outcome is now strategies prints.
Stuart Webb 08:40
I'll be honest with you, I have done a similar exercise. And I found that creating a tool to use with one on one of my clients can take me sometimes an hour, maybe two hours, turning it into something which is usable again and again. And again, can take years because you have to refine, you have to see it in application, you have to apply it again. You have to think harder about what it is we're trying to do with the tool. Do you know creating a tool is simple. Getting a tool to be really effective. It's hard, hard work. And there's people that have done the hard work for you are the best people to come along and help you get that tool in your application implementation. Getting a tool to work is is just it's just a simple bit. It's just takes a long time to do isn't it. And that time is not something you can easily buy. If you're buying a business or running a business. You need somebody to come along and go. I've done it. I know how to do it. Here it is ready for you to go. That's brilliant. Simon, there must be one question that at the moment you're thinking I've missed in my four so far. And this is where I connect vaccinate and I stopped working and you do all the hard work again. Well, what is the question that you are currently thinking? I wish he'd asked me this because he hasn't yet asked me. So once you've asked the question, obviously, you're the only one who can then answer it for us.
Simon Severino 10:00
how to navigate a possible recession.
Stuart Webb 10:02
Oh, good one. Well, lots of the question.
Simon Severino 10:06
So what I'm doing to prepare for a possible recession or stagflation, because I'm in Europe, so I will be in a recession 100%. Wherever you are listening, you might be in a recession. So. So what can we do? One thing is to really learn risk management in terms of, you know, your overall wealth protection. So I have now three buckets, 30% real estate, 30%, equities and 30% digital assets Kryptos. And I really make sure that I don't go over this allocation, because allocation is risk management. So make sure that even 1/3 can collapse for a while and you still, you still have everything in the green overall. That's one thing that I'm learning. And the and I'm also sharing that on YouTube how to do that. And the second thing that I'm learning is to have your most important 4050 people. At, at at buttons distance on. Basically, I have them on my phone, I have a mastermind of my 47 most important people from Los Angeles to to Singapore. And we are much more than a mastermind. Meanwhile, we are a real community, we open doors for each other, we support each other, we challenge each other. We share tools with each other, we introduce each other, we cross promote each other. So that's the community aspect. And I think in in tough times. Now, it really matters. If you have people that you can talk to with oh my god, I'm overwhelmed with this issue. I don't know how to solve that. How do you do that? So that we can quickly can brainstorm, do case work together problem solving sessions together, but also just going through the journey with other entrepreneurs who have similar topics, I think is very beneficial and makes the that whole thing are so much more fun.
Stuart Webb 12:08
I love it. Simon that is such a brilliant, brilliant advice. You need a community at tough times. And that's that's what you know, it's not rocket science is all about listening.
