We all know that feeling, the one where we've got one stick in one hand and another stick in the other and upon the top of those sticks there are plates! Plates that we need to keep spinning at all times to make sure they don’t stop, fall off and break.

During difficult times, especially when the economy takes a turn for the worst, we find ourselves pushing to our absolute limits to ensure that we do everything within our power to keep our businesses afloat, or ‘spinning’ if we’re going with the plate spinning metaphor.

I’ve been previously asked by a client the following question:-

“Do I need to keep spinning all these plates?”

As I responded, I wanted to ensure that what I was trying to say came across as I intended. I wanted to demonstrate the importance of keeping control but at the same time, realising that there are certain priorities that jump to the top of the list and others …
