Take time to reflect
Plan for success, particularly if you want to scale and grow your business for exit this year
Now is a great time to reflect on what you’ve achieved in the last year and to look forward to breaking all records in the next year. It’s worth mentioning that very few people set goals, yet it has been proven repeatedly that those who do tend to achieve much more than those who don’t. Setting goals is especially important right now!
Hey, pass this on to a friend. They need some rocket science business growth in their life as well!

on what you’ve achieved in the last year and to look forward to breaking all records in the next year. Setting goals is especially important right now!
That’s why high achievers and successful entrepreneurs prioritize goal-setting.
Regardless of your objectives, you should use the first few weeks of the year to plan for the next 12 months.
A good friend of mine once said, “Most people spend more time planning their holidays than planning their business and setting goals.” Unfortunately, it’s hard to argue with this observation.
Without putting words in your mouth, one of your goals should be to make next year your best year yet. You can do it, despite any setbacks you experienced this past year!
Start by deciding what you want to achieve. Set both personal and business goals for the year, and then determine what steps need to be taken to achieve them. Don’t be afraid to aim high.
Think BIG!
You’ll achieve much more by setting challenging goals, and even if you don’t reach them, you’ll still achieve better results than if you chose the ‘safe’ option.
Volumes have been written about goal-setting, but I’m going to provide you with a quick guide to help ensure that next year is your best year yet. This is also the subject of an online course I’ve recently created, and I’ll link to that at the end of the post.
1. Set your goals high:
Strive for excellence and avoid conservatism.
2. Write your goals down:
It's crucial to put your goals in writing. List everything you want to achieve in the next year, both personally and professionally, as these are often interconnected. By doing this, you immediately put yourself ahead of most people.
3. Create a plan for each goal:
Without a plan, achieving your goals becomes nearly impossible. For every goal, work backwards to identify the necessary steps to accomplish it. Remember, several actions may help you achieve more than one goal.
4. Ensure your plan is measurable:
You should be able to assess your progress at the end of each month.
5. Only engage in activities that help achieve your goals:
Focus on actions that directly support your plan. Ideally, 90% of your daily tasks should be aligned with your goals.
6. Monitor your progress every week:
This discipline can be challenging, especially if you’ve never implemented it before. Weekly monitoring allows you to respond quickly to any issues that arise. Waiting a month or a quarter can be too long to effectively track progress and implement necessary adjustments.
7. Get back on track:
Regular monitoring gives you the visibility to adjust your plan as needed. If you face setbacks, don’t panic; view them as natural consequences of having a plan. Simply revise your actions to reflect what you need to do to get back on track.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of setting goals for your success. Don’t think that goal-setting is ‘old-fashioned’ or ‘outdated’; it isn’t. It remains a proven method to achieve results. You can ensure thatthis next year is your best year yet by setting your own goals!
Promise yourself that you will take some time in early January to set your goals and create an action plan.
Happy New Year!
