The entrepreneurial ceiling often arises when the business owner is overwhelmed, leading to chaotic operations. To overcome this, a change in mindset is crucial, because many business owners view themselves as employees, not visionaries. They value their trade or technician backgrounds, which may not break through the entrepreneurial ceiling. A shift towards a different mindset is needed to overcome this and break through the entrepreneurial ceiling.

Hello again, Stuart Webb here, scale-up expert, entrepreneur, and your host with another one-take video blog where all the mistakes stay in
Picture this: You’re a business owner, juggling multiple tasks, and suddenly, you hit a ceiling. Chaos reigns, overwhelm sets in, and you wonder, ‘What worked yesterday won’t work tomorrow.’ Welcome to the entrepreneurial ceiling!”
What must you do? You need to reframe the chaotic overwhelm stage by shifting to a proactive outcome and a vision. This not only benefits the individual business owner but also provides a different perspective on the reactive environment. When doing this with a business in this situation, we work to set business values and create a ten-year plan to align everyone around what's important. This approach helps create space for a bigger picture and helps create a more focused environment. This may seem uncomfortable. I once took a team to work on a ten-year plan and everyone was very uncomfortable because it seemed like a very long time in the future. But I struck lucky in this workshop. One of my team was a karate expert. He showed us that breaking a piece of wood with your hand is not about punching at the wood, but punching THROUGH the wood. In other words aim to stop your hand very far past the point of the wood So we agreed in the workshop to set a goal way past the point of where it was possible and aim for aspirational, dynamic goals,.
In order to achieve a ten-year goal, it is essential to set a three-year goal, a one-year goal, and a 90-day plan within the next twelve months. This will provide a foundation for the bigger picture and help businesses and teams achieve their goals. The priority is to set the “Rocks” the 3-7 priorities you’ll focus on for the next 90 days . The order is to set rocks for the company as a whole first, and then for each individual on the leadership team second. Once the Rocks have been established and everyone clearly understands their responsibilities and the expected date of completion it's time to shift their mindset, they should focus on achieving their goals and not just on a job.
As a business owner, it's crucial to set the rules and create a visionary role. This involves setting a roadmap for your team and focusing on creating business systems and processes. However, many people in day-to-day, family-based, and SME businesses don't do this. Instead, they tend to do what they know and feel comfortable with, even if it doesn't yield the desired results. To achieve a different outcome, business owners must get uncomfortable, put themselves in a new role, and focus on creating business systems and processes.
Running a business is challenging, but it's essential to reflect on the reasons behind starting it. Many people choose to embrace the challenge and welcome it, as it's a creative and aspirational period when they first enter the business. Embracing the challenges and the creative side of the business can help overcome obstacles and improve overall performance.
You know, as the day-to-day reactiveness grinds you down and your energy levels deplete, it's really hard to remember that feeling way back when.
As we hit the entrepreneurial ceiling of that overwhelm and chaos,.
If we can recapture that energy,.
Energy is everything.
People buy your energy.
To recapture the energy that led to starting a business, create an aspirational vision, and create systems that break through the entrepreneurial ceiling, we need to have a strong scorecard, that keeps us on the straight and narrow. Try writing a job description for yourself as a business owner, capturing the original essence of why you started the business and the legacy it will bring, You can wake up every day with purpose and confidence, allowing you to wake up with purpose in a different place than if you were reactive and turned up to the day-to-day tasks.
